O Município conta atualmente com uma das mais nobres ações desenvolvidas através da Secretaria Municipal de Assistência Social, a Casa de Passagem, que tem em sua essência acolher, cuidar e proteger moradores em situação de rua. Para ajudar a manter a Casa e para que os moradores de rua tenham uma ocupação saudável, eles ajudam a cuidar de uma horta.
“Aqui nós tratamos todos com muito amor e dignidade; eles recebem toda atenção, como se estivessem em suas próprias casas. São muitas as atividades realizadas, entre elas os cuidados com a horta, que é cuidada por eles, e que têm por objetivo principal mantê-los com a mente e o corpo saudáveis”, relata Romualdo Marcelino, coordenador da Casa.
A horta implantada ao lado da Casa serve de motivação aos acolhidos, pois eles se sentem úteis, e ajudam a distrair a mente e exercitar o corpo. Todos os dias eles acordam, tomam café e já seguem para lidar com as atividades na horta, como regar, retirar algumas ervas daninhas, plantar entre outras atividades. “É muito gratificante ver o empenho de cada um nas atividades da Casa; eles cuidam de cada pé de alface como um filho”, conta Romualdo, emocionado.
Os abrigados na Casa de Passagem recebem uma dieta balanceada com cinco refeições diárias, que consistem em café da manhã, almoço, lanche da tarde, jantar e chá da noite, além de terem disponíveis frutas e biscoitos durante o restante do dia.
