O tempo seco, com ventos e com baixa umidade relativa do ar tem contribuído para o aumento de queimadas no município de Assis. Conforme o Tenente Pecorario, comandante do posto do Corpo de Bombeiros, alguns dos incêndios são provocados por pessoas que utilizam a ação do fogo para a limpeza de terrenos e pastagens.
